WPI Industrial Technology00 series of Safe-Arc electronic ballasts are small-specialized power supplies that power the arc lamps used in a variety of medical and dental fiber optic systems, including minimally invasive surgical equipment used for endoscopy and laparoscopy, and for dental compound curing and lighting systems. The ballasts come with a standard open spark gap designed for long life. When lower levels of audible noise are a concern a sealed spark gap is available. The ballasts use Safe-Arc technology to protect lighting systems from failures due to accidental arcs to ground. All ballasts within the series come with a built-in, CE-compatible EMI filter, thus making it easier for the system designer to meet necessary international requirements. They are also UL listed to the 2601 medical standard, which simplifies safety approval procedures.
In addition, the one-piece ballast/ignitor assembly weighs 4 lb. and is compact enough to fit into most lighting systems. The ballasts function over the entire range of 90-265. The series also comes with a 12-VDC power auxiliary output source to operate fans, motors and other auxiliary equipment.
